A team of four or five volunteers is needed to
supervise construction in remote mountain refugee
camps and villages. As part of their duties, this
team will identify villages where poor water and
sanitation are a problem contributing to village
health issues. They would implement water projects,
build latrines, and educate people with the help of
interpreters. This team will also build and improve
farm roads. Volunteers are needed beginning the
first of April and leaving the end of November.
Long-term assignments are better for adjusting to
the culture and having a maximum impact for the
faith. Previous experience in construction is
desirable. Iraqi building techniques are vastly
different from American. Great flexibility is needed
to accomplish this assignment without offending the
Kurdish workers. Health must be better than average.
Physical fitness is a must. The climate is harsh and
the work is very hard for this assignment. A desire
to show the love of Christ to Muslims is needed.
Tools and equipment are available but may not meet
American standards. One must improvise at every
phase of work to keep the project going. |
